Friends,

Dubai Delegation: IBG took its first overseas delegation, to Dubai. Around 15 members joined. It was over 3 nights and 4 days. We have 2 days at the Mahabiz conference, a Dhow networking evening, and a trip to the sand dunes on day 3. Day 4 saw a visit to DMCC, the premier Free Trade Zone of Dubai, where we were received by the Directors and CEO and held discussions.

Pictures and other details of this trip are given below. Members were highly satisfied with the entire business and fun parts of the visit.

We are hoping to do an overseas business delegation every 6 months to some part of the world. Join us for the next one!!

Mahabiz Conference which had around 500 delegates across Maharashtra and Dubai attending it with all top ministers from both sides.

Vivek is a London Business Scholl MBA who forayed into the movie production business after spending time in the Automotive (JK Industries Ltd) and Retail (Future Group) business and after actively promoting and marketing Cricket (Sri Lankan Cricket Board) and Motorsport (JK Tyre). He Produced the Hrithik Roshan – Saif Ali Khan starrer NA TUM JAANO NA HUM (2002) where he launched EshaDeol and followed it with CHURA LIYAA HAI TUMNE (2003) where he launched Zayed Khan. Then he was hired as Consulting Producer on Vipul Shah/ManmohanSheety’s NAMASTEY LONDON (2007) and on AAP KAA SURROOR (2007). He decided hereafter to Produce International Cinema alongside Bollywood with an English Language film targeted at a global audience – KARMA (2008) which won awards at Greece and Spain and was an official selection in competition at the Shanghai International Film Festival (2009) in CHINA. He went on to coproduce German films INDISCH FUR ANFANGER (2011) and THE BIG BLACK (2011) and also Hollywood film SEAL TEAM SIX: THE RAID ON OSAMA BIN LADEN (2012) aka CODENAME GERONIMO (2012) which was produced by Academy Award winning Producer Nicolas Chartier (who also produced the Oscar winner THE HURT LOCKER).
He continues producing Bollywood films with the last ones being Shilpa Shetty’s DISHKIYAOON (2014), THE XPOSE (2014) and TERAA SURROOR (2016). Vivek was casting Director on BernahrdKammel’s ELYSIUM HERNALSIENSE (2018) which was in competition at both Warsaw and Montreal in 2017.

Vivek is now developing manu International as well as Hindi Film projects. On the international side he is Co Producing THE HESTON PRINCIPLE (2018) based on the bestseller by Raj Kundra. He is also in rep on his high action double bill feature FLEX (2018) as well as his action thriller MARIANA’s WEB (2018) and his Wikileaks style cyber espionage thriller CHASING THE CODE (2019). He just completed his micro thriller horror drama titled HEXING (2017) starring Dominique Swain and others. He is producing WOMB an arthouse dramatic Sri Lankan film directed by Nishantha Shantha Deva. And most important of all is his passion project WEEKEND (2019) which is a beautiful new age young romance structuring a classical love story in an innovative way and set for filming in 2018 in Europe. He is also now producing Web Contect starting with a comedy web series featuring Cyrus Brocha to be followed by a web based travel series and a web series based on dance (India’s first such spectacle).

He has been on delegations of Indian Producers to Thailand, The Philippines, Los Angeles, Germany, France, Spain, Kyrgyzstan, etc. He is also a member of the selection committee of NEW YORK’s INDIAN FILM FESTIVAL. He serves permanently on the jury of CORINTHIAN PELOPONESSIAN INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL in GREECE and on the CYPRUS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL in CYPRUS. He has also served as Juror in ALTIN CINAR INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL in KAYSERI, TURKEY where he also curated the Indian film section in May 2016. Together with renowned Austrian Director Bernhard Kammel, he has started the REAKTOR INDIAN FILM FESTIVAL in VIENNA, AUSTRIA where he will be curating arthouse Indian feature films in all Indian languages.
